Vocabulary #2

1. Obesity-the condition of being very fat or overweight
ex. Americans have been known as the obesity country.
2. Accumulate-to gather or collect, often in gradual degrees; heap up
ex. Fans accumulate air one way  to push it out the other.
3. Mass-a body of coherent matter, usually of indefinite shape and often of considerable size
ex. In order to get the force of gravity, you multiple mass and the acceleration due to gravity.
4. Disease-a disordered or incorrectly functioning organ, part, structure, or system of the body resulting from the effect of genetic or developmental errors, infection, poisons, nutritional deficiency or imbalance, toxicity, or unfavorable environmental factors; illness; sickness; ailment.
ex. Cancer is the biggest disease this country has face.
5. Diet-food and drink considered in terms of its qualities, composition, and its effects on health
ex. People who exercise tend to be on a diet.
6. Prevalence-the condition of being prevalent, or widespread
ex. Babies are sometimes born with prevalence.
7. Stigma-a mark of disgrace or infamy; a stain or reproach, as on one's reputation
ex. Hitler probably had the biggest stigma in history.
8. Prevent(able)-to keep from occurring; avert; hinder
ex. Some people think that the attack of Pearl Harbor could be prevented.
9. Adolescent-growing to manhood or womanhood; youthful
ex. Adolescent seem to be the most troubling years. 
10. Cardiovascular-of, pertaining to, or affecting the heart and blood vessels
ex. Sitting on your legs can cause cardiovascular and put them to sleep. 
11. Excessive-going beyond the usual, necessary, or proper limit or degree; characterized by excess
ex. Sickness can be cause by excessive junk food. 
12. Mechanism-an assembly of moving parts performing a complete functional motion, often being part of a large machine; linkage
ex. An orchestra can be defined as a mechanism
13. Sedentary-characterized by or requiring a sitting posture: a sedentary occupation
ex. Obsessed people are always sedentary
14. Predispose-to give an inclination or tendency to beforehand; make susceptible
ex. Lack of sleep can predispose bad brain function.
15. Syndrome-Pathology, Psychiatry. a group of symptoms that together are characteristic of a specific disorder, disease, or the like
ex. Student with syndromes often are enroll in Special Ed.
