Vocabulary #4

1. Accede - to give consent, approval, or adherence; agree; assent
ex. Couples have a tradition to get accede from the brides parents in order to get married.
2. Brandish - wave or flourish (something, esp. a weapon) as a threat or in anger or excitement.
ex. Most robbers brandish their knife around to show that they're in control.
3. Comprise - consist of; be made up of.
ex. A band is comprise of many different types of musical artist.
4. Deft - neatly skillful and quick in one's movements.
ex. Athletes have to be deft in order to be competitive.

5. Destitute - without the basic necessities of life.
ex. Some people think that destitute objects are more important than people.
6. Explicit - stated clearly and in detail, leaving no room for confusion or doubt.
ex. When reading a manual, they tend to explicit every step.
7. Extirpate - root out and destroy completely.
ex. Mouses are extirpated when found in a home.
8. Inopportune - occurring at an inconvenient or inappropriate time.
ex. Some jokes need are said in an inopportune moment.
9. Ironic - using or characterized by irony.
ex. Lying to someone then being lied to the same day is irony.
10. Musty - having a stale, moldy, or damp smell.
ex. Sewage water has a musty smell.
11. Officious - assertive of authority in an annoyingly domineering way, esp. with regard to petty or trivial matters.
ex. People who are officious can become very annoying. 
12. Ominous - giving the impression that something bad or unpleasant is going to happen; threatening; inauspicious.
ex. When having a good day, you don't want to meet with an ominous person.
13. Pinnacle - a high, pointed piece of rock.
ex. Reaching your goals can make you feel at a pinnacle point.
14. Premeditated - think out or plan (an action, esp. a crime) beforehand.
ex. Premeditated murder is worst than heat of passion.
15. Rampant - (esp. of something unwelcome or unpleasant) flourishing or spreading unchecked.
ex. Weeds can become rampant plants.
16. Solace - comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness.
ex. Counselors are meant to solace you when going through a rough time.
17. Stately - having a dignified, unhurried, and grand manner; majestic in manner and appearance.
ex. Kings have a stately walk when they enter a building.
18. Supple - bending and moving easily and gracefully; flexible.
ex. Gymnastics are for people who can supple their bodies. 
19. Suppress - forcibly put an end to.
ex. When children fight, most of the time it ask to suppress the fight.
20. Venal - showing or motivated by susceptibility to bribery.
ex. Some people believe that some politicians are venal.
